Non-link version: "Dear couples who sit next to each other on dates, you're weird and you're wasting a booth...sincerely, everyone"
I asked why this was weird and received the following responses:
- "I think it's weird because you can't talk to the person you're with properly. Plus, all that room could be used for more people with a bigger party"
- "i dont think its weird, just think that tweet was funny. although i feel awkward talking to ppl next to me in a booth"
and one person saying the tweet was out of control idiocy, then another saying it's amusing and only weird if they're feeding each other and then kissing between bites.
If some restaurant seats my boyfriend and me in a booth, we typically sit next to each other. I don't find it awkward to talk to him, I find it easier. It's easier for him to hear me. I've never thought it was weird, nobody has ever given me that impression. In fact, if it garners any sort of response out of someone working at the restaurant, it's usually some sort of compliment or saying it's cute. I really don't how it's awkward or weird to talk to someone next to you. You sit next to your friends at a game, at the movies, and you probably talk to them...how is it different in a booth?
The part about the room being used for a bigger party, which is also what hockey idiot was probably getting at is just useless. Pretty sure a restaurant knows what it's doing and doesn't need your expert opinion on where it seats all of its parties. Two people get to eat too. afleurs.net
So what say you? Do you sit next to your significant other in a booth? Can you find any reasoning as to how this is actually weird?
